Alain Ducasse’s former private home: La Bastide de Moustiers is a jewel - a small, seventeenth-century building set just outside the ancient village of Moustiers, close to the Gorge de Verdon (Europe’s Grand Canyon, where kayaking is a must) in which the chef has worked his magic. He calls it ‘an Inn with a few bedrooms and a restaurant’… it perfectly expresses Ducasse’s own aesthetic - an ancient house hidden among lavender bushes and olive trees, discovered on a motorbike tour, in which every glass, plate, linen bed sheet, antique ceramic or book in the library has the legendary chef’s stamp of approval.
