Meet the chef: Tom Sellers

One of London’s most exciting chefs is off to Cornwall for the summer. Tom Sellers tells us more about his latest venture

What inspired you to become a chef?
I liked the discipline of the kitchen and how it challenged me on a daily basis.

Tell us a bit about running your own restaurant, the best moments and the challenges
The best moments is watching Story evolve and also my team, the staff and people are what make Story what it is today. You are only as good as the people you surround yourself with.

You are about to move the restaurant to the Carbis Bay hotel in Cornwall for the summer, tell us more and what can guests expect on the menu
It’s an exciting challenge. We will be using all that Carbis Bay and surrounding area has to offer from fresh local fish and seasonal ingredients. I will also be joined by Michael O’Hare and Niall Keating, for one night each. Michael O’Hare, Chef Patron of renowned The Man Behind The Curtain in Leeds, will join the team on 24th August, while Whatley Manor’s Niall Keating will make a guest appearance on 1st September.

Story by the Sea will run from 2nd August – 14th September 2019. The restaurant will be open seven days a week. The set menu will be available for £95pp for lunch for 5 courses and for £125pp dinner for 6 courses excluding service charge.
