London Craft Week

As part of London Craft Week 2018, Steph Theodosiou went along to The Beaumont Hotel in Mayfair to discover travel creations from Britain’s finest designers

For an exclusive 5-day run, The Beaumont collaborated with eight of Britain’s premium luxury travel goods designers and makers. Each created a specially commissioned piece to demonstrate and celebrate the art of contemporary travel through the use and craft of leather and canvas.

Alfie Douglas

Alfie Douglas is a family of creatives who design and manufacture leather bags and accessories from their London studio, workshop and showroom. The brand doesn’t focus on trends, just reliability, endurance and function. Each product features a simple, minimal, unisex design.

Billy Tannery

Billy Tannery is the first British kid leather and micro tannery company. Their ethos is “Turn waste into worth”, working in cooperation with British butchers and restaurants, using leftovers to provide ethical, fully traceable leather.

Caroline Groves

A traditional bespoke shoe and bag maker with over 25 years of leather-working experience, Caroline’s creative talent crosses the boundaries between craftsmanship, fashion, art and fantasy. She flies all over the world to meet clients and create handcrafted, unique pieces for fashion-forward women.

Ettinger

Founded in 1934, Ettinger is one of the finest luxury leather goods manufacturers in Great Britain and the only one with a Royal Warrant to HRH The Prince of Wales. Famous for its confident use of colour, Ettinger makes luxury leather wallets, travel and home accessories, leather bags and briefcases.

Geraldine Larkin 

This London-based design company specialises in hand embroidery. Founder Geraldine Larkin draws on 30 years in the fashion industry to create bespoke hand embroideries of the highest quality and originality for both commercial and residential properties.

Gladstone LDN 

The Gladstone London range fuses contemporary aesthetic and functionality with the lost designs and craftsmanship of the 1920s era of ‘London Made’. Gladstone also offer a tailor-made bag service, allowing customers to choose either custom an existing silhouette, or opt for a fully bespoke item.

Purdey

Founded in 1814, James Purdey & Sons, or simply “Purdey”, is a famous British gunmaker of London, specialising in high-end bespoke sporting shotguns, rifles, accessories and clothing.

Trunk Clothier with Charlie Borrow

Trunk Clothiers is a collection of the best menswear and accessories from Japan, Italy, the US, Sweden, the UK and beyond. Trunk LABS is an accessories shop, stocking a selection of the finest luggage, accessories, bags and shoes from around the world. There’s also grooming products, stationery, eyewear, home wares andfurniture.
