Hotel Review: Seel Street

Brilliantly located in the heart of Liverpool’s bustling restaurant and nightlife scene, the new Seel Street hotel is a winner says Camille Allcroft

Offering a mix of culture and nightlife as well as excellent restaurants, Liverpool has long been a favourite destination for a short break and we recently checked in to one of the most exciting new hotels in the city, which is making waves following its opening in December 2018. Located on Seel Street in the heart of the city, Seel St Hotel is the latest project from EPIC Group, who already have successful hotels and serviced apartments in the area with plans to expand in the near future.

The hotel has a welcoming feel with a contemporary design-led aesthetic which seamlessly blends modernity with classic style, creating an ambience which you could easily imagine in New York.  There are 128 guest rooms, a gym and bar area at the hotel as well as six contemporary cinema rooms where you can relax and have snacks delivered while you watch a movie during your stay.

After a warm welcome we checked in to one of the stunning Wow Suites, of which there are three in the hotel. The vast open plan suites span 35 square metres and they are equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including stylish furnishings and a well-stocked mini bar. The suites also have large outdoor terraces, which afford guests sweeping views of the city skyline and we settled in for sunset drinks on the comfortable rattan furniture – there is a dining table too, if you feel like taking dinner outside.

Later, we made our way downstairs to the Toucan Bar, an all-day dining venue serving breakfast and light bites as well as an impressive cocktail list. The cool green tones and plush velvet furnishings make this the ideal place to linger during your stay and we enjoyed a few cocktails before heading out for dinner in the city. The central location of the hotel makes it the ideal base for exploring Liverpool’s renowned nightlife – there are bars aplenty on Seel Street itself and the hotel is a short walk from Bold Street, which is packed with great independent restaurants.

After exploring the area, we retired back to the Wow Suite to enjoy the spectacular views with a glass of wine and a slice of pizza from nearby American Pizza Slice. The next morning, we enjoyed a leisurely brunch of avocado and halloumi bagels in the Toucan Bar which was the perfect start to a day in the city.

The verdict
This chic hotel is a welcome addition to the area, combining style with excellent hospitality and the Wow Suites make the perfect place to stay for a special occasion.
